BLESS BE THE TIEAttention all Women:  The snow is flying!  As we deal with the winter months I'd like for you to think spring!  Each May we celebrate Mother's Day with a special dinner to honor the women and girls in our congregation.  I had an opportunity to attend a very unique Women's Banquet last spring with the theme of "Aprons".  The presenter of the program has shared all her material with me and I have offered to present a similar program for our May 2009 Dinner.  Here's my request for you.  Please search your closets and all the places you stash away special keepsakes.  Ask your mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and friends.  All items will be returned so attach a label with your name.  If you have a special story behind the apron, please share that with us too.  Collect aprons from through the years right up to the present.   Even your hubby's back yard grill apron that might have a special story.   Children's aprons too!  You'll hear more from me in the early spring.   Sue Payne

Attention Committee Chairpersons:  That time of year to start thinking about your review report on your committee for the 2008 Annual Report.  Please submit your report to the church office or email your report to:   edinboropresbyterian@verizon.net by Tues. January 13th.  Thank you!!

Presby Press:   There will not be a newsletter issued in January.  The annual report will be mailed to your home that month.  The deadline for the February Presby Press Newsletter will be Thurs., January 29th.  Please submit your articles of interest, or news you would like to share with your friends in the church, to Karen in the office, or e-mail your message to:  edinboropresbyterian@verizon.net

Save Box Tops!:   Please check your Kleenex boxes, cereal boxes, etc. and save the box tops when printed “box tops for education.”  Please give your box tops to one of the church deacons.  Thank you!

Calling all Comfort Food Makers!:   It has often been said that the best way to someone’s heart is through the stomach!  Sometimes a home cooked meal can make all the difference in the world, especially during difficult or trying times.   If you would like to provide a cooked meal for someone in need, please let me know.  I would also appreciate if you could help identify individuals who may benefit due to a birth, death in the family, illness, injury, or other reason.   Please contact me at 838-1107 and I will joyfully serve as your Comfort Food Coordinator!        Julie Insana, Deacon

Deacons Visitation/Assistance :  Please call the church office (734-3511), contact one of the deacons, or Jim Vanstone, moderator for the deacons (734-3675), if you know of anyone hospitalized or shut-in who would enjoy a visit.   Please tell us if you know of someone who needs shoveling at their home,  or if someone is having difficulty attending church due to being unable to drive.  Contact us if there is any manner in which we can be of assistance.  By loving and caring……...it is the deacons commitment, through the grace of God, to serve. Hospital equipment is available for use at no cost.  Please call Karen in the church office (734-3511), or contact Brian & Heather Zimmerman, or Jim Vanstone.

Cookies For Our Troops:   The Women's Association in the church has formed a new committee called the “Cookie Circle”.  The committee consists of 10 women, each baking 4 dozen cookies at their homes.  The cookies are then brought to the church by the 15th of each month for packing and mail delivery to our American troops who are deployed.  Sending soldiers homemade cookies is one way of expressing our thanks to them for all they do!

Share Your Skills:  The Bldg and Grounds Committee is looking for someone with the skill to strip and refinish the step units in the sanctuary.   If you would be able to help, please talk to Jim Renn or leave a message with Karen in the church office.

From the Edinboro Food Pantry…… Another successful year has passed and the Edinboro Food Pantry is thriving.  The Food Pantry is an emergency pantry, and families from all over Erie County that needs the emergency food are eligible to receive it from them.  Individuals and organizations in the area that have supported the food pantry are too numerous to mention, and they thank you all!  There is always room for improvement….number of suggestions include taxable projects, such as paper products, personal hygiene products, sanitary products and dish/laundry/dishwasher soaps are always needed since many of these projects are not always available and must be purchased at local stores.  All donations can be dropped off at the pantry in the lower floor of the Edinboro Borough Building any Tues., between 11a.m.-5p.m. A box is also available in the church narthex. You may also call Mary Weber, at 734-1008 and arrangements will be made for a pick-up.  Anyone interested in making a monetary donation can mail it to:  Edinboro Food Pantry, 124 Meadville St., Edinboro, Pa.  16412.  “Thank you again for all your help!”
